George Reed and his wife Rose lay the foundation for success by paving driveways in the Modesto area.
1953
The next generation joins the journey as Wendell Reed, son of George and Rose, becomes part of George Reed, Inc.
1960s
George Reed, Inc. takes a major step forward, acquiring foothill businesses and establishing the Sonora division, which includes the Table Mountain quarry and hot plant operations.
1974
Wendell Reed takes the helm as President of George Reed, Inc., guiding the company through a period of growth.
1985
Expansion continues with the acquisition of the Munn & Perkins location.
1990s
George Reed, Inc. sets its sights north, expanding into Lodi and the surrounding areas, including the addition of operations in Clements and the Jackson Valley Quarry.
2000s
Focusing on the Merced area, George Reed, Inc. tackles a major project, completing the resurfacing of 32 miles of Interstate 5.
2017
Margaret Reed takes on the role of President following Wendell's passing in December 2016.
2018-2019
George Reed, Inc. strengthens its presence in the region by opening doors in Sacramento with a new office and the Rio Linda hot plant..
2020-2022
A continued commitment to employee excellence is recognized as George Reed, Inc. is voted "Best Places to Work" for three years in a row.
2021
The Reed family legacy continues as Matthew Reed, son of Jeff and Margaret, joins George Reed, Inc.
2023
The George Reed, Inc. story takes a new chapter with the establishment of Reed Family Companies, better reflecting the overall strength, structure, and comprehensive services offered by the greater organization we are proud to be part of.
